Calls from suicidal youngsters to the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups have more than doubled this year, it was revealed yesterday.

 The counselling group predicted more young people would need help next week after release of the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination results.

 The group's hotline handled more than 19,300 calls in the first half of the year. Most callers were teenagers but about 300 were aged six or under. Girls called more frequently than boys.

 The group's hotline on 2777 8899 will extend its services starting from tomorrow when students can call for exam and career help from 10am to 2am.
