Demand for Wharf flats

CROWDS queued overnight on three successive days for a chance to buy homes in Wharf Holdings' first condominium project in Singapore.

Around 95 per cent of the 710 Parc Oasis units made available were snapped up during the first three days of sales.

More than 1,300 queue coupons were issued to the public for crowd-control purposes.

Mr Willy Shee, Singapore managing director of marketing agent Richard Ellis, said: ''We anticipated a good response to this new condominium. However, the magnitude of the response took us by surprise.'' Richard Ellis had originally intended to offer only 210 units for booking at this stage, but decided to progressively release a further 500 over the weekend so as not to disappoint the crowd that had waited in the queue in the gruelling heat.
