A home page has been launched to help youths, especially HKCEE students, cope with their problems through on-line communication with their peers.

 'V-Care', set up by the Boys and Girls Clubs Association of Hong Kong, will enable youths to share their feelings on various issues that affect them.

 Chan Kwok-bong, head of Shek Yam East Children and Youth Centre, said a Web site was an effective way to communicate with youths.

  'Youths are spending more and more time on-line. We wanted to supply an additional medium for them to share their feelings and needs,' Mr Chan said.

 Under the title 'Hit-Care', surfers will be able to express their views on a hot topic every month. The theme for this month is the HKCEE, the results of which were announced yesterday.

 There is also 'U- Care', which is a discussion forum, and 'Professional-Care', where social workers will respond to e-mail within 24 hours. The content will be confidential.

 Meanwhile, some 40 young ambassadors will host 'Peer-Care' on the popular ICQ chat-line.

   The organisers are trying to invite popular personalities as guest ambassadors to chat with youths on-line.

  Ng Sze-long, who is in charge of Tse Lok Children And Youth Centre, said they chose youths as ambassadors because they have had experiences similar to those faced by HKCEE students.

 The ambassadors have been given guidance on how to deal with their peers. They have been told not to respond to messages late at night in order to discourage bad habits among youths.

 Moonin Chan Wai-chun, 17, a Form Five student at Aberdeen Technical School, is one of the ambassadors.

  He said he was glad to help others via ICQ. 'I know many people think that ICQ is dull and meaningless. But it can help improve communication between people,' Wai-chun said.

 Cheryl Ng Suet-yee, 17, from St Paul Convent School, said she was not as professional as a social worker, but she could help by showing that she cared about others.

 Calvin Cheung Ka-wing, 18, who is studying printing at Kwun Tong Technical Institute, said: 'I can't tell them how to cope with the HKCEE because I went to a technical institute after Form Three. But I'm sure I can share something different with them.'
