Planning and co-operation between Hong Kong and the mainland is nil. Moreover, most Hong Kong travel agents don't seem to care. We recently contacted four Hong Kong travel agents to assist with arrangements in Yunnan, Guangzhou and Macau. The response was laughable. One prominent travel agency told us, 'Oh there is no bus from Guangzhou to Macau.' If the Hong Kong travel industry is so blind to such basic cross-border facts, how can it ever hope to capitalise on tourists coming to the mainland? KAREN TATOM Shenzhen
