Drug-rage man guilty of trying to kill girlfriend by throwing her over balcony
A drug-abuser was found guilty yesterday of trying to murder his girlfriend by pushing her over an 18th-floor balcony and stamping on her hands as she clung desperately to the railings.
A Court of First Instance jury convicted Tang Kwok-wai, 27, of attempted murder. He had denied the charge.
Jurors were told the glass worker had taken the designer drug 'ice' and 'changed totally' in the days before he tried to kill his girlfriend, Au Wing-sze, 18.
Ms Au told the court Tang had talked nonsense and scared those around him in the lead-up to the crime on January 19.
He had dragged her outside her mother's flat in Sha Tin's Wo Che Estate and thrown her from the 18th floor balcony.
The waitress was saved from the fall by a resident who reached up and grabbed her from the floor below.
