A Macau lawmaker wanted by the ICAC failed to meet the registration deadline to seek membership of the enclave's through-train legislature yesterday.

Chan Kai-kit, alias Chio Ho-cheong, did not turn up at the Macau Preparatory Committee office on the last day of a two-week registration process.

Chan, 48, and his brother Chan Kai-cheung are wanted by the Independent Commission Against Corruption for alleged involvement in a multimillion-dollar fraud involving the mainland food conglomerate Guangnan (Holdings).

Sources say Chan Kai-kit is receiving treatment for a heart condition at a military hospital on the mainland.

He is officially on sick leave from the Legislative Assembly.

Arrest warrants have been issued for his brother and Guangnan assistant general manager Li Ruihua who jumped bail in January after their arrest by anti-graft agents.
