Walden International Investment Group, one of three firms appointed to manage a HK$750 million government-sponsored applied research fund, has selected software developer Lecco Technology for a US$1.5 million investment.

Lecco, whose main product is called Lecco SQL Expert, uses artificial intelligence to develop software that identifies and fixes problematic code within database programs.

The company's major customers include Chase Manhattan Bank, Hong Kong International Terminals, Cable & Wireless HKT and NTT Data Corp.

The funding will help Lecco develop its product line and market the software worldwide, president Stephen Wong said.

Lecco plans to introduce a version of its software for Sybase databases and versions for other popular databases are under development, Walden said.
