Effervescent scrumhalf Stephen Kidd makes his final appearance for Hong Kong this weekend before leaving to play full-time rugby in Ireland.

Kidd will spearhead Hong Kong's challenge at the Kandy International Sevens tournament in Sri Lanka against teams from the rest of Asia.

The New Zealander, who captained Hong Kong last season at both sevens and 15-a-side, will depart next week to play club rugby for Nenagh in the Munster League.

'The move has been on the cards for the past six months or so. It was not an easy decision to make, but I need a bit of a change,' said Kidd yesterday.

Hong Kong coach Phil Campbell said Kidd's absence will be a big blow to local rugby.

'We will miss him badly . . . it will be a major loss,' said Campbell.
