Actress Su Pollard says that if she ever met a character like the 'Nosy Parker' she plays in Habeas Corpus, she would be tempted to strangle her, stuff her in a basket and float her down the river.
'Mrs Swabb is your typical busybody who makes it her business to know everyone else's. She is the cleaning lady and nothing misses her eye.' The Alan Bennett comedy, presented by British Airways Playhouse, is playing at the Conrad International hotel.
Habeas Corpus is a comedy of errors but, according to Su, who is best known for her role as Peggy in BBC TV's Hi-De-Hi, it's not just a 'drop-your-trousers' kind of show.
She advises audiences to listen carefully, otherwise they will miss the plot.
Su says the camp series Hi-De-Hi gained such popularity because it struck a chord with holiday-makers.
People enjoyed watching the show because it brought back memories of their vacation. 'It was a show you didn't have to think hard to appreciate,' she says.
