The Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood has ironed out some differences with the pro-Taiwan 123 Democratic Alliance in Shamshuipo, but failed to compromise with the Democrats in the long-disputed area.

ADPL chairman Frederick Fung Kin-kee gave a lukewarm response when asked about co-ordination with the Democrats.

'Of course co-ordination would be better. But when it comes to elections, all parties are rivals,' he said.

He said former ADPL key member Wong Chung-ki, now a Democrat, had made clear candidates would chase ADPL hopefuls no matter which constituencies they contested.

The 123 Democratic Alliance, which will field 15 candidates, said possible clashes with the pro-democracy camp in one or two constituencies in Shamshuipo had been resolved.

'The changes in the demarcation in one or two seats have prompted us to clarify if there will be competition with others. In the end, we found no clashes,' Alliance chairman Tai Sik-kwan said.
