The study on the future use of industrial land is expected to be finalised early next year, according to the Planning Department.

The department has conducted a survey of 5,000 companies with operations in 170 industrial buildings in Hong Kong as part of its review of potential changes to industrial areas.

The study is expected to provide a new planning framework for industrial land use.

A spokesman for the department said the study aimed to update the demand for industrial land, given the significant changes in Hong Kong's manufacturing sector in recent years.

'It is in a final stage,' she said.

The spokesman said the Planning Department was analysing the findings and hoped to conclude the recommendations as soon as possible.

A consultation of professionals, the industrial sectors and the public was expected by as early as the end of this year.
