When China is admitted to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), mainland trade will surge as more entry points are opened, according to TNT Express Worldwide (HK) country corporate account manager Hans Olijve.
He said at present air-freight entry points to the mainland were limited.
Once the mainland joined WTO, big suppliers would look for companies which could provide a full range of logistics services.
Small transportation providers with niche markets probably would lose out unless they were able to improve their logistics services.
TNT Hong Kong general manager Bryan Chan said TNT had made identifying customers' problems and seeking solutions for them its main priority.
If a customer reported a delayed package, the company treated it as a serious problem, he said.
