A Hunan detention centre warden and doctor have been sentenced for aiding and abetting a prisoner's escape.
Zhong Meng, former deputy warden of the Changsha City Number One Detention Hall, was sentenced to two years for aiding an escape and accepting bribes.
Yi Jian'an, the detention centre's attending doctor, was sentenced to 18 months for aiding an escape.
Wang Jun, charged with fraud involving eight million yuan (HK$7.5 million), escaped on December 3 last year after receiving notification that his trial was about to begin.
According to the Nanfang Zhoumou newspaper, Wang promised to buy the doctor a new car if he would take him out of the centre.
The deputy director allowed Wang to use his office to meet friends, relatives and even his mistress. Wang also made more than 80 telephone calls during a three-month period.
