PSINet LinkAGE president Chin Man has left the corporate Internet service provider (ISP) he helped found for another local Internet startup.
Mr Man will join e-commerce startup Quamnet, where he is already a shareholder and a director.
Quamnet supplies real-time financial data to Web surfers and other companies. It has live stock quotes from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Free to users, the site garners 400,000 page views a day and is supported by ads. Quamnet co-launched a financial Web portal with Sun Hung Kai Properties last week.
Founded in 1994, LinkAGE was unusual because from day one it focused purely on providing Internet access to companies rather than home users. It claims to be the largest provider of leased data lines to companies in Hong Kong, ahead of Cable & Wireless HKT.
PSINet is a global ISP specialising in corporate access. It bought LinkAGE for a reported US$20 million last June. PSINet acquired its seventh ISP in the SAR, Vision Networks, two weeks ago.
