Bridging class for students
THE second phase of the two-year pilot bridging course for students wishing to transfer from grammar to prevocational schools will start in July.
The scheme, to establish the feasibility of and demand for the bridging course, started last summer.
This last phase would again provide three classes of 40 students each in Kowloon and the New Territories.
The course, which is free of charge, provides theoretical and practical studies on metalwork, electrical studies and technical drawing.
''Students applying should have completed Secondary 1 because they will continue their studies in Secondary 2 in a prevocational school,'' an Education Department spokesman said.
The spokesman also said the pilot scheme was arranged following the recommendation of the Education Commission's Report No 4 on the needs of students who, having been allocated places in grammar schools, found themselves after the first year or so losinginterest in the more academic approach and wishing to learn practical subjects.
