FOR the first time in their music careers, Dr Yip Wai-hong and Yip Wing-sie will appear in a concert together as conductors. Apart from this rare father-daughter collaboration, the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra Concert will also feature musicians from China and Taiwan, and a programme comprising music pieces by Chinese and Russian composers. The concert will be held on June 5 at the City Hall Concert Hall in the evening at 8. Dr Yip is a prominent figure in music education and performance. He started to train his daughter Wing-sie in music theory and conducting in her teens. The concert will also present an opportunity to Chinese pipa musician Zhang Hongyan and Taiwan pianist Chen Ruei-bin to display their talents before local music-lovers. Both born in 1967, Zhang and Chen are rising stars in their respective fields. The programme includes ''Adagio'' and ''Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini'', Op.43 by Russian composers Taheeb and Rachmaninoff respectively as well as Chinese music pieces ''Chariot'' by Ge Yien and ''Ambush from All Sides'' by Qu Wenzhong. Tickets for the concert at $45, $60 and $80, with half-price tickets for students and senior citizens are available at URBTIX outlets. For reservation and enquiries, telephone 734-9009 and 734-2925.
