I live at 58 Route Twisk, Tsuen Wan and am concerned about road subsidence outside my house, which occurred during the passing of Typhoon York. I am still waiting for the relevant government department to rectify the damage. A two-metre deep hole was created by an uprooted tree on the slope underneath a section of road at the small junction of Route Twisk and the village track to a number of village houses. As I feared that the hole might cause structural damage to the foundations of the road, I handed a written complaint to the Tsuen Wan District Office last month, asking that immediate action be taken to have the uprooted tree removed and the damaged road repaired. Disappointingly, I have so far received no response from the District Office and would like to know when residents can expect the repair work to be done. This seems to make a mockery of the performance pledge the Government made to the citizens of Hong Kong, saying it would become more efficient and improve the quality of its services. I am concerned that a portion of the road will collapse if there is a further rainstorm. This could be dangerous for residents who have to use this road to get to and from their houses. I urge the relevant government department to act promptly before there is an accident. KWOK KAM-SHING Tsuen Wan
