Lawrie Fownes' team have been running well without much luck so far this season, and Metro Traveller (40-1) was yet another case in point after he flashed home late for fifth in last night's penultimate event. The Blues Traveller three-year-old covered plenty of extra ground down the back and didn't get a lot of room down the straight but, once clear of beaten horses, he motored to the line like a real athlete. Metro Traveller looks a good thing when stepped up to a mile or farther in Class Four and will almost certainly advance beyond that grade as the season progresses and he learns more about the game. Earlier, David Oughton's debutant, Magic Hands (20-1), caught the eye when he was slowly away under Alan Munro before closing strongly in the Class Four event taken out by Scenic Star. He's come to hand quickly and looks ready to do the business. TLP
