A taxi driver who inadvertent ly became a getaway driver for two handbag thieves later helped police catch them. Chin Tsz-fung, 35, and Law Yiu-kei, 19, were jailed yesterday for three years after pleading guilty to robbery in the District Court. They were arrested after taxi driver Siu Tat-ming led police to the place where he had dropped them off, prosecutor Lily Ho said. Victim Tsang Wing-kam was on her way home to Kwan Tak Mansion in Hong King Street, Yuen Long, on June 20 when she was grabbed from behind and Law covered her mouth with his hands. The pair snatched her handbag and jumped into Mr Siu's taxi. Mr Siu saw them rummaging through the handbag before they got out at Kiu Lok Square in Yuen Long. Mr Siu then saw Ms Tsang and the police looking for Chin and Law and took them to where he had dropped the men off. They were found being questioned by other police during a routine search. Judge Esther Toh Lye-ping gave Chin and Law credit for their guilty pleas.
