An official promised to consider the setting up of a centralised loan fund for tenants to maintain their blocks. Director of Buildings Leung Chin-man was quoted by Democrat Yeung Sui-yin as saying the application procedures for maintenance loans should be simplified. Mr Yeung said he told the official there were different loan schemes for particular types of building maintenance and the procedures were complicated. Concern over the maintenance of old buildings has been raised followed a spate of accidents. Mr Leung has said it will take more than 130 years to remove all illegal structures under existing policies.
