A child minder on trial for murder yesterday blamed her husband for inflicting injuries on the four-year-old child, but said she was 'not trying to criticise him'.

Wong Siu-wai, 34, also told the Court of First Instance that her husband, Wong Kin-wong, 38, told her to leave Lee Wing-sze's body outside the child's house.

Wong Siu-wai has pleaded not guilty to murder and a charge of preventing the lawful burial of the girl.

She said her husband had beaten Wing-sze on various occasions in the two days before the child's death, using a rattan stick, a metal ruler and a pesticide cylinder.

'I'm not trying to criticise my husband . . . I have the feeling that he doesn't like other people's children,' said Wong, who has admitted hitting the child.

At the start of yesterday's hearing, Mr Justice Colin Jackson directed the seven jurors to return a verdict of not guilty on the burial charge due to lack of evidence.
