Prudential Assurance Hong Kong has announced the promotion of James Wong Yuk-loi as manager.

 In his new capacity, Mr Wong will be responsible for agency recruitment, training and business development strategies.

  Mr Wong has 15 years experience in the industry. He joined Prudential as a life underwriter upon graduation from the University of Hong Kong in 1985.

Bates Asia-Pacific has announced the appoint ment of Jeffrey Yu as regional president, Bates Asia.

 He was formerly Bates Hong Kong CEO and regional director, Greater China.

  Mr Yu is based in Hong Kong and has been part of the Bates management team for 14 years. In his new role he will have responsibility for all of Asia except Japan and Korea.

STAR TV has announced the promotion of Jamie Davis to the position of se nior vice-president, programming. He will oversee all operations of STAR TV's movie channels.

 Mr Davis also continues his supporting role in managing and developing the business affairs of the STAR entertainment channels.

  Prior to joining STAR in 1996, he was director of finance for Fox Sports in Los Angeles.

Datacraft Asia has announced the appointment of Vincent Lum  as marketing director.

 Based in Hong Kong, Mr Lum will provide strategic direction and management leadership in all aspects of marketing operations throughout the Datacraft Asia Group with a particular focus on charting and spearheading the company's electronic commerce strategies and activities.

  Mr Lum has more than 14 years experience in the data communications and computer industry. Prior to the appointment, he was Data craft's business development director, North Asia.

Allianz Insurance (Hong Kong) has announced a number of key appointments to supplement its recently-announced development plans for the local market.

 Daniel Neo has been appointed business administration manager with responsibility for market monitoring and executing investment decisions as well as overseeing the accounting and administrationfunctions.

  Previously, Mr Neo was financial analyst at Allianz regional headquarters in Singapore.

  The newly-created China desk will be headed by Alice Chan, a former J & H Marsh & McLennan senior vice-president and Beijing chief representative.

  Vanessa Bird, previously operations manager of the industrial division, has been appointed customer services manager.

Melanie Nutbeam has been appointed managing director of L M Investment Management Hong Kong.

 Miss Nutbeam, a qualified lawyer, has been advising private clients on all aspects of financial management for nearly 14 years.

Time Asia's marketing director Alice Chai has been promoted to vice-president, marketing information, for Time Inc Asia. Ms Chai will lead research staff for Asiaweek, Fortune and Time.
