Tim Duncan led all players with 32 points and 18 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs captured the McDonald's Championship with a record-setting 103-68 rout of Brazil's Vasco da Gama in the final in Milan.

A strong start by Duncan, awarded the tournament's Most Valuable Player award, helped remove any doubt about the eventual outcome, and the Spurs' second team produced an impressive fourth quarter - outscoring the South American champions 24-2.

Duncan had played poorly on Friday, when the Spurs narrowly averted an unprecedented upset loss to Italy's Vasese Roosters the semi-finals.

'When we don't play well as a team or an individual doesn't play well, whether it's Tim Duncan or David Robinson or Mario Elie, you better watch him the next night,' said Spurs guard Avery Johnson, who had 14 points and six assists.

'We take pride in our effort.'
