THERE aren't too many anywhere in the world who can compete with master mentor Ivan Allan when it comes to an eye for a youngster. Allan took the wraps off another of his private purchase griffins at yesterday's Sha Tin meeting and the way For Szesze hit the line in the eighth, it won't be too long before he's winning. Yesterday he was asked to make his racecourse debut on the dirt and that is always difficult. But this son of Snippets really got the hang of things in the last 300 metres and was finishing best of all. Allan does not give these youngsters a hard preparation for their debuts so For Szesze can be relied upon to improve for the experience. Prior to this run he had very much caught the eye in a barrier trial. Both these efforts mark him down as one who can soon be winning his way out of Class Four and have no trouble handling Class Three either. Allan's once-raced Instinct Power also rattled home in the opening event, another 1,150-metre dirt dash. Again it was a promising effort and one which suggested a Class Four victory is well within his scope. The hampered Basketball Winner appeared unlucky not to dispute the quinella in the sixth over 2,000 metres won by Fruitful Trip. He clearly loved the move up to 2,000 metres and can do even better over farther or, more importantly, should he ever strike a wet track.LCW MARK YOUR CARD MARK YOUR CARD
