Paging company ABC Communications (Holdings) has entered the Web-based securities-information service field by launching an on-line real-time portfolio-tracking service. The service, NetQuote, is accessible through abcquote.com and allows investors to monitor the real-time movements of up to 11 stocks simultaneously. It also tracks specific portfolios and provides threshold value alerts, the company said. 'Within one year, we expect the service will attract 5,000 users,' managing director Patricia Yeung Shuk-kwan said. The monthly subscription fee would be set at $420. Finet Online would provide a rival free real-time quotation next Monday, though Ms Yeung said that service would require the user to click the mouse each time a stock price update was required.
