Dozens of friendly faces are helping freshers at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) to settle into their new and unfamiliar campus life.
Six student counsellors and 60 helpers who have taken part in the university's Student Mentorship Scheme are running a support centre to help the new arrivals.
The centre was set up to help new students find their feet on campus and provide them with information to help them adapt to university life. It provides information about the university and clubs and extra-curricular activities.
Inside the first-year student support centre, students can gain computer and Internet access to course registration and the university bulletin board system. A help desk allows students to drop in and talk to student counsellors.
There are also books, leaflets, and videos about campus facilities, student development activities and university life.
Message boards allow students to share their thoughts and there is a cosy area for them to chat and meet friends.
