Former world champion Li Fai takes on a new challenge when she make her international debut in taijiquan at the World Wushu Championships today.
Six years ago, Li was the darling of the Hong Kong team as she accounted for both their gold medals - cudgel and changquan - at the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur.
However, that was the last time she flew the Hong Kong flag as she withdrew from the national Asian Games squad in 1994 after discovering she was pregnant.
Li made a comeback two years ago and decided to switch to taijiquan as the career span in the discipline is longer.
Li said just before her re-entry at Hong Kong Coliseum that she did not care as much as before about winning.
'In the past, I had a strong desire to win gold medals whenever I competed. But it doesn't matter to me so much now. I just try my best,' Li, 30, said.
