Property consultancy CY Leung is seeking opportunities to expand its business via an international alliance - with one possible target being Britain's DTZ Debenham Thorpe. Managing director Leung Chun-ying said talks about this kind of tie-up had not been conclusive and that his company was in no rush. Mr Leung said the talks with DTZ were an on-going issue as were negotiations with other European and US companies. He emphasised that the most important consideration of any tie-up was that it should benefit the company's operation. 'We have no plan to obtain shares in listed companies [through a merger] and we are too young to retire,' Mr Leung said. However, globalisation was in his company's strategy since it had already established a good foundation in Asia, while turnover and employee strength overseas exceeded that of Hong Kong. Mr Leung, also the convenor of the Executive Council, said this change in direction for his firm was unrelated to his career in public services. CY Leung has eight offices in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the mainland. It also has offices in Singapore and Indonesia. Mr Leung said the company planned to set up another office in the mainland and boost its Southeast Asian exposure.
