I refer to 'Australia does not need queen' (letter, November 4). A nation that persists with its head of state living overseas might be one which is proud of its links to its mother country. It is Professor Norman Day's prerogative not to feel that way, that is what democracy is all about. However, I was surprised by his letter since apparently he does not realise half of Australia holds the opposite view. Either way, we will soon see! NICK POOLE North Point
