I refer to James Lau's letter headlined, 'Congestion avoidable' (South China Morning Post, October 23), commenting on the transport arrangement at Hunghom Interchange. To tie in with the commissioning of Princess Margaret Road Link on August 31, the nearside lane of Hunghom Interchange has been dedicated to buses at all times. This department has been monitoring the traffic condition at this location and noticed that on occasions there was traffic congestion which was due to vehicle queues forming on the rearside lane heading towards the Cross-Harbour Tunnel. As a mitigation measure, we will revise the time period of the bus lane to the morning period only and this will be implemented shortly. AU YEUNG HAU-SHING for Commissioner for Transport
