Teachers were presented with practical ideas on using software to aid English teaching at a seminar by English teacher and author Pete Sharma. Mr Sharma introduced some software packages, such as Author Plus, Click into English and Mindgame, which would make English teaching more fun and interesting. Mindgame features questions on grammar, usage and vocabulary. Mr Sharma said teachers needed to be trained not only to use educational software, but also how to integrate it into the curriculum. He said teachers should be able to use the software in a fun and relaxing atmosphere so they would not be intimidated by new technology. Jack Seto Wah-sang, an English teacher at Christian Alliance S W Chan Memorial College, said the school had set up a self- learning room for students to learn by using CD-ROMs and games. He said students, especially junior formers, were very interested in multimedia learning. Shirley Sin Lai-sze, a teacher at Hong Kong Tang King Po College, said there was plenty of software available but not all would fit in with the local curriculum.
