ROGER Parry, 29, of Hongkong, married Joy Fernandez, 20, of the Philippines, in a service at City Hall at 2.30 pm on Friday last week.
That's when their troubles began.
After a small reception at the Godown, Roger and Joy left for a honeymoon in Macau. Unwisely, they tried to go through different queues.
Roger, a British financial consultant who works for Moorbridge, got through smoothly enough. As the jetfoil pulled out of Hongkong harbour, he realised he had mislaid his bride.
Joy was having problems. Roger had the tickets and the marriage certificate, and she could not persuade the immigration authorities that she was on honeymoon.
That night at 1 am, Roger's former flatmate, Dave Cockerton of Connaught Financial Planning, got a call from Roger.
