DVB Holdings will dispose of its computer monitor-making business in order to concentrate on the development of a new digital broadcasting service.
'We are planning to sell the [monitor-producing] business as soon as possible,' chief executive Bruno Wu Zheng said.
He said that after the disposal, the company would concentrate on its newly developed Chinese language-based digital video broadcasting system.
The technology would allow the mainland's 70 million cable television viewers to access the Internet and perform functions such as video-on-demand or real-time information processing with a specifically designed set-top box, Mr Wu said.
The functionality of the prospective system could be more powerful than the similar technology of Microsoft's Venus, he said.
'Our system could have at least four to five more functions than Venus.
