A silver trader yesterday denied stealing gold bars worth $1.53 million.
Lau Hei-choi yesterday pleaded not guilty to one count of robbery and one of handling stolen property.
Lau, 31, lent his vehicle to three men to use as a getaway car for a robbery on July 24, prosecutor Susanna Ku Pui-fong told the District Court.
The trio, who are still at large, allegedly used the car after robbing two Hung Fung Jewellery couriers of the gold in Peninsula Square, Sung On Street, Hunghom.
Lau was arrested after police traced the car to him.
Officers later found nine pieces of gold in his flat, the court heard.
