Young sportsmen in fine battling form
Records tumbled at Sheung Shui Government Secondary School's annual sports day at North District Stadium.
Guest-of-honour Lin Siu-sau kicked off the event by urging students to apply the same battling spirit to their studies and school activities.
There was an exciting tussle in the first event, the 3000-metre race, with a rousing fight to the finish. Not to be outshone, the relay runners showed the same fighting spirit in a series of close races that produced four new school records.
In the finals, the girls eclipsed previous times in the Grade A 4 x 100 m and 4 x 400 m races, while the boys set new standards in the Grade A 4 x 400 m and Grade C 4 x 400 m.
Two teams from Heung Yee Kuk Tai Po District Secondary School triumphed in both girls' and boys' inter-school relays.
Parents and teachers joined forces for the final relay race. The Putonghua Club won by a small margin.
Quin House performed a stunning routine to win the cheering team title.
Principal Li Lok-yin ended events by congratulating students on their success.
