A marathon sitting is expected for the Legislative Council when it debates the bill to scrap the municipal councils. House Committee chairman Dr Leong Che-hung said members would have to be prepared for the Legco meeting starting on December 1 to continue for three days. Mr Leong said:'The two bills on December 1 - the Provision of Municipal Services (Reorganisation) Bill and Protection of Wages on Insolvency (Amendment) Bill - might take a long time to debate. It may take nearly three days to hold the meeting.' The first day's debate will start as usual at 2.30pm and end at about 10pm. Subsequent days will begin at 9am and last 13 hours. But some said this was too long. Emily Lau Wai-hing of The Frontier suggested ending the debate at 8pm on the second and third day.
