Maybe someone had good intentions when they added an extra lane in Queen's Road East, outside the old Wan Chai Post Office, for traffic turning right into Tai Yuen Street. Unfortunately, this is one of the narrowest parts of the road. The narrowing of the lane for traffic travelling east means that if there are two or more buses using the bus stop outside Wan Chai market, there is no room for traffic to pass the buses, whereas before it could. All traffic in that direction is brought to an unnecessary standstill, contributing towards gridlock all the way back to Queensway. Perhaps the department concerned would like to have another look at this, say, in the evening rush hour, and notice that it wasn't such a good idea after all. ALEC GORE Wan Chai
