An influential think-tank headed by Executive Council Convenor Leung Chun-ying has announced a younger leadership with the aim of playing a greater role in policy research. One Country Two Systems Research Institute executive director Shiu Sin-por said it was time for the nine-year-old institute to change. Chairman Dr Ann Tse-kai, 87, has stepped down to become honorary chairman, while vice-chairman Wong Po-yan, 75, now heads the advisory council. The leadership will be split into two levels - a board of directors headed by Mr Leung, and the executive committee chaired by Ronnie Chan Chi-chung, Hang Lung Development chairman. City University president Professor Chang Hsin-kang and Chinese University vice-chancellor Professor Liu Pak-wai have joined the leadership. Mr Chan said more effort would be put into economic studies. The competition in hi-tech industry between Hong Kong and Shenzhen would be one of the topics, Mr Shiu said.
