Two Shenzhen fishermen were yesterday jailed for helping to smuggle a woman eight months pregnant into Hong Kong on a poorly equipped motorboat.
Tse Yu-sho, 34, and Tse Yu-fan, 35, were each sentenced to three years and four months in jail by District Court Judge Brian de Souza.
They pleaded guilty to being crew of a ship which entered the SAR carrying unauthorised entrants.
Prosecutor Vivien Chan Man-wai told the court the men's powered, wooden sampan was intercepted by Marine Police in Deep Bay off Lau Fau San late at night on September 28.
After their arrest, the pair claimed they were approached by a man known as 'Ah Hung', in Shekou, Shenzhen, earlier in the night, who offered them 250 yuan (HK$220) to smuggle the woman, who has since been repatriated.
