A 16-year-old girl's complaint of indecent assault was apparently motivated by malice and 'a result of discussion with her friends', District Court Judge Peter Line ruled yesterday. Wong Man-kei, 25, was cleared of one count of indecent assault and one count of false imprisonment when both charges were dismissed. Having noted inconsistencies in the evidence of the alleged victim, the judge said: 'It sounds as if the girl was motivated by malice.' Her complaint to the police was a result of a discussion about the matter with friends, he said. Although the girl testified she was not allowed to leave Wong's home for three days, the judge found it unbelievable she could not have left if she wanted since the key to the door was available. Wong was accused of locking the girl in his Ap Lei Chau flat in May last year and indecently assaulting her twice.
