What are you busy with at the moment? Sportwise, I am quite free because there will be no big competitions for the rest of the year. So I can put more time and effort into my studies. I'm now in my final year, so I'll be very busy.

What was your childhood ambition? I did not aspire to be a squash player. When I was young, I dreamed of being a teacher because the job would enable me to get along with children.

When I was in primary school, my physical education teacher invited a squash coach to introduce the sport. After his visit, I tried squash and loved it.

To improve my skills, I joined a training course provided by the Regional Council. When I learned more about squash, I entered a small competition in Yuen Long district and luckily won the championship. That motivated me to do well in squash.

You have won many awards over the past few years. Which one did you like most? The 1997 Asia Junior Squash Championship because it was the first and last competition that I played in the junior category. I entered three times and made progress each time. I won the championship the last time I took part, so I have special feelings about it.

As one of Hong Kong's top squash players, do you have any tips for those interested in the game? There are many training courses, such as mini-squash programmes, for them to try the sport and learn some basic techniques. Squash is a sport which is easy to learn but difficult to play well. It takes a lot of time and effort. If you want to play well, you should practise regularly and get trained by good coaches.
