An angry husband who instigated a gang attack on a nightclub patron who had pinched his wife's breast had his sentence reduced yesterday.
Three Court of Appeal judges quashed Lo Tak-chi's conviction on a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Lin Hiu-po at the Flower City Karaoke Club in Tsim Sha Tsui on November 3.
The court substituted a lesser charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and reduced the two-year jail term to 18 months.
In May, District Court judge Wayne Wilson found Lo, 28, guilty of wounding 20-year-old Mr Lin.
Lo's wife, Cherry Ho Lai-ching, 19, was sentenced to 100 hours' community service for her role in instigating the attack. They both denied the charges.
Ho got a hostess to lure Mr Lin to the back stairwell, where Lo and a gang of 10 men beat him unconscious. The victim suffered scratches and bruises to the head, face and back, a small cut to his tongue and a chipped tooth.
