Proceeds from the Hong Kong Players' Christmas pantomime Pinocchio will go towards helping blind children in Hong Kong and on the mainland. In customary Christmas spirit, the theatre will donate $35,000 to Operation Santa Claus. Pinocchio opens tomorrow night at the Art Centre's Shouson Theatre. Director Sally Dellow said the show would be typically colourful and fun. Pinocchio was chosen because she felt it appealed to both Chinese and non-Chinese audiences, young and old alike. 'It is beautifully costumed with kids on stilts. It's very much a traditional pantomime with all the classic characters,' she said. The production involves a cast of 40, including 28 children aged 10 to 17. Performance dates are December 9-11 and 15-18 (7.30pm) and December 11, 12 and 18 (2.30pm). Tickets cost $160-$180.
