The daughter of a High Court judge has launched a libel suit against socialite Theresa Po Wing-kam and Next Magazine. Qualified barrister Rosaline Wong Wing-yue, 29, claimed in a writ filed in the High Court that defamatory statements were made in an article published by the magazine on November 13, 1998. Ms Po, Next Magazine Publishing, the magazine's editor-in-chief Cheung Kim-hung and its printer, Paramount Printing Services, were named as defendants. Ms Wong, the daughter of Mr Justice Michael Wong Kin-chow, is claiming unspecified damages plus costs. She is also seeking an injunction to restrain the defendants from further publishing the remarks. Ms Wong is general manager of listed company Chinese Estates Holdings Ltd, whose chairman until last month was Joseph Lau Luen-hung. Ms Po is the ex-wife of Mr Lau. She was said to have made remarks harming Ms Wong's personal and professional reputation in an interview. Ms Po is also being sued for a further remark published in Apple Daily on September 25 this year.
