A HUNTING rifle and a pistol were seized yesterday by Macau's Judicial Police in a continuing pre-handover crackdown on violent crime. Police said the two firearms and 74 bullets were believed to belong to a gang operating out of a flat in the International Commercial Centre near the Pelota Basca Casino on the enclave. No arrests were reported. Meanwhile, the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau yesterday said it had arrested 2,800 suspects in an anti-crime operation in eight cities across the province over the past few days. A bureau spokesman said the suspects include 15 alleged gangsters from Macau. He said the bureau had also seized 70 firearms and 2kg of TNT. Guangdong's Public Security Bureau has held a string of operations ahead of next weekend's handover.
