Newly crowned Davidoff Order of Merit champion Kyi Hla Han described his year as the best he has ever had in 19 years as a professional - and he knows more success is on the horizon, writes Unus Alladin.
Han finished 14th in yesterday's Omega PGA Championship after carding a closing round 71 for a 281 aggregate total to finish the year with takings of US$204,210 in prize money.
'I've had a great year. It's great to win the Merit title and it's great to have the perks that go with it.
'I'm pretty sure I will be playing at the British Open in St Andrews,' said the 38-year-old Hong Kong-based Burmese player, who finished 11 shots behind Omega PGA Championship winner Fran Quinn. 'I'll probably be playing in 10 or 13 tournaments in Europe but I will still play a full schedule on the Asian PGA Tour,' he said.
'This year I played with a lot of confidence.
'Before, I used to get upset over bad holes. Now it doesn't bother me. I'm pretty settled in Hong Kong. I am more relaxed. I can have a bad round but now I go home and I'm relaxed.' Han will take the rest of the year off before taking part in two tournaments in South Africa, one in Australia and then heading off to the Malaysian Open.
