THE family of Mr Chan Hon-wing, the 34-year-old driver shot dead by police in Tsim Sha Tsui, said yesterday they were not happy with the lack of information on the progress of the police inquiry.

According to police, a 27-year-old officer opened fire after being dragged along Chatham Road with his arm trapped in the driver's window of Mr Chan's Mercedes-Benz.

Officers had pursued Mr Chan after seeing his car jump traffic lights on May 1.

But speaking after Mr Chan's funeral yesterday, relatives said they seemed unable to track down what had happened on the night of his death.

His sister-in-law, Ms Eva Tsang Fung-wan, said: ''Newspaper reports are our only channel for information. Police have told us nothing about the incident.'' The family contacted the police complaints unit but with little success, she said.

''So far, they have not informed us how the investigation is going,'' Ms Tsang said.
