Fujifilm's MX-2900 Zoom, like the Ricoh, is a 2.3-megapixel digital camera and yields images at up to 1,800 by 1,200 pixels.
Of the group of cameras tested, the MX-2900 offers the most powerful 3x optical and 3x digital magnification.
The MX-2900 is nice to work with, but its bulky dimensions make it the heaviest unit we looked at. This can easily be mistaken for an SLR camera.
For continuous shoots, the MX-2900 works faster than most, taking up to nine images in 640 x 480, at three frames per second.
It offers a pop-up manual flash, but if you forget to activate it, you will get under-exposed shots. It also comes with a built-in hot shoe for attaching an external flash unit, and professional users can mount a 43mm filter or 28mm wide lens unit.
The camera uses a propriety rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which lasts about 200 shots, and it comes with an 8 megabyte SmartMedia card for image storage.
