I wish to thank Peter Tisman (letter, South China Morning Post, December 11) for giving us an opportunity to share information about the Y2K readiness programme of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station.

Daya Bay achieved 100 per cent Y2K readiness earlier this year. If also has a set of comprehensive Y2K contingency plans and rollover plans in place.

The power station's Y2K programme has been conducted in line with international practices, and has been reviewed and endorsed by national regulatory authorities and international organisations, including the International Atomic Energy Agency of the United Nations.

As an investor of the power station, we have shared information about Daya Bay's Y2K readiness efforts with the public through two presentations at the Legislative Council, frequent updates to the media, and our website. Members of the public are welcome to visit our Web site for additional information about Daya Bay's Y2K readiness programme. The address is: www.hknuclear.com (see section titled About Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station).
