Blackboards and chalk will be replaced by video projectors and multimedia technology in the new millennium, according to Assistant Director of Educa tion (information systems) Ng Kwok-chuen. Mr Ng was speaking at a cer emony to mark the first delivery of a projection system to the Education Department. The system, which can facili tate multimedia presentations, will provide teachers with greater flexibility. Materials which can be dis played include text, graphics, photographs, animations and video clips. When used with a computer linked to a local area network or the Internet, the system can make teaching more dynamic. About 800 schools which joined the department's central tendering scheme will be re ceiving the new projection sys tem.
